โ“Troubleshooting

Common user errors

If your in-game world doesn't match the map here at all, it's most likely due to one of the following:

  • You entered the wrong seed or coordinates (make sure there are no leading or trailing spaces).
  • You selected the wrong edition or version (use the version that generated the terrain you are looking at).
  • You used mods, data packs, or server plugins that affect world generation.
  • (For slime chunks) You didn't wait long enough, as they have a low spawn rate.

Mixed version worlds

If you started your world on an older version and updated it, you must switch between the versions in the app depending on which area you are viewing. Always select the version that was used to generate the specific chunks.

Coastlines

By default, coastlines for 1.18+ might not perfectly match the in-game view. This map shows the underlying biome definitions. Enable the "Terrain" option (below the map controls) for a view more representative of the actual surface height and coastlines.

Known limitations

Inaccuracies: Some features might be marked where they don't exist in-game, or be missing from the map. This is more common for Dungeons, End City Ships, Amethyst Geodes near caves, Temples (1.18+), Nether Fossils (Bedrock), and Enchanted Golden Apples.

X/Z Coordinates: Some small or buried features (Fossils, Ruined Portals, Trail Ruins) only show the center of the chunk they generate in. You may need to dig around that area.

Y Coordinate: The Y coordinate isn't shown for all features. Surface structures are easy to find. Underground structures like Mineshafts, Strongholds, and Fortresses require searching at different heights. Buried structures like Fossils (Bedrock) and underground Ruined Portals will require manual digging.
